Halftime USA Camp Staff

Staff members have been selected from major college and university bands, dance lines and national champions with expertise in their particular field. Meet and work with a staff that has been there. Talk to them about what it's like to go out on the field for the first time before thousands of fans.

Whether you are a dancer, flags, majorette, etc. - this is an excellent time for everyone to go to camp together and build a working relationship. As a group or as an individual wishing to learn so you can audition for a spot on your school line, you are welcome. Meet and work with a championship staff.

MAJOR JACK DEVENNEY:
N.B.T.A. National rules Commissioner,
has served for many years on the
NBTA Board of Governors.

Jack has had a varied career, from an American Legion Drum & Bugle Corps mascot, drummer, high school drum major, U.S. Navy Drum & Bugle Corps, drum major at Great Lakes Naval
Training Station, performer for pro-football and baseball games, night clubs, stage and television, he has served as an M.C. for many events, including nationals at Caesar's palace in Las Vegas and Notre Dame University.

Jack pioneered the early development of spinning, twirling and tossing, silks (Tall Flags), double flags, capes, rifles, devil sticks, knives and many more of today's show routine novelties. For many years Jack
was on both the state and national convention staff
of Dance Masters of American and Dance Educators through out the USA and Canada.
  SHIRLEY ROSS DEVENNEY:
Shirley has had an outstanding
career from grade school mascot, drum major, feature twirler and choreographer for her high school band to feature twirler, captain and choreographer for the "Ole Miss" Rebellette Dance Team and professional performances with Fred Waring and the Pennsylvanians, Stan Kenton and many others.

Material and routines choreographed by Shirley have been featured at many high school, university and bowl games. Shirley is the originator of the "Southern Style" of dance twirl. She developed many of today's popular rolls as applied to solo baton routines. A former Mrs. Majorette of America, she is in that lofty position as one of the worlds outstanding female instructors.

Her students have won every major title there is to win in the twirling art/sport. Many can be found fronting a number of today's university bands and a number serve as university choreographers.

Jack and Shirley are internationally respected and have taught camps and clinics across the USA, Canada, Caribbean, Mexico, Belgium, Switzerland and Spain. Between the two they have had at least one state or national champion in seventeen states.

In July 2002 both Shirley and Jack were inducted into the National Hall of Fame at Notre Dame University.

Jack and Shirley are your camp directors at all camps.
